About Me
I am a qualified therapist and run my own private practice in North Wales, offering face to face counselling as well as online counselling via WhatsApp videocalls to young people and adults over the age of 18.
For local clients who struggle with anxiety, mobility issues or perhaps have suffered a recent injury or been discharged from Hospital, and those who prefer to be in their own home, I also offer home visits where I provide emotional well-being as well as practical support from weekly shopping, to arranging appointments and basic housekeeping.

If you are struggling to cope, feeling low, overwhelmed by life, hurt by past experiences, or experiencing painful emotions then counselling can be immensely helpful. I have helped people with a range of difficulties including trauma, domestic abuse, anxiety, low mood, sexual assault, grief and relationship difficulties.
My qualifications include a Masters in Youth Justice, Probation and Applied Criminology; BA(Hons) in Criminology; BSc(Hons) Criminal Justice; Diploma in Probation Studies/Community Justice; and Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Counselling.

I provide a safe space to help you examine your life and your relationships. I will not judge or tell you what to do, but will listen to you and make you feel supported, heard, understood, cared for and respected.

I undertake continued professional development on an ongoing basis, have regular external clinical supervision and I am a non registrant member of the NPC (National Counselling Society) and Psychology Today.

Emotional & Practical Support in your Own Home

For local clients who are struggling with mobility issues or anxiety, or for those who prefer to be in their own home but need some extra support, I offer the following:-

- Emotional Well-being Support (Wellness and Wellbeing support to include developing new skills that will help you cope when faced with adversity including anxiety, grief and loneliness)

- Practical Support (Following an assessment of needs, I can provide a variety of practical support from weekly food shopping, booking appointments, light housekeeping, pet care, accompaniment to appointments etc.)

Life isn't always straightforward and we can often experience difficulties and challenges that throw us off balance. This might be a relationship breakup, a bereavement or a redundancy and during these times, it can be really helpful to talk through these difficulties and explore how you are feeling and discuss your experiences in a safe, non-judgemental environment. Sometimes even our general household chores can become overwhelming for us, and we might need a helping hand to get us back on track.

Cost - £25 per hour or £40 for 2 hours

"I had emotional and practical support from Karen for six months and I'm definitely not the same person I was before. I no longer overthink and feel anxious about the future and I have increased my sense of self worth, which makes me feel so much more confident in myself.
I don't get so anxiously attached to people now, which has been a problem of mine for years that I really wanted to work on. Having Karen as my Emotional Well-being Practitioner has helped me deeply with this which brings me to my next point.
Karen agreed to provide me with some practical as well as emotional support in my own home as I was really struggling with leaving the house after Hospital surgery left me with mobility issues and overwhelming anxiety. She helped me with general chores I struggled to maintain, like doing my weekly shopping, and basic housekeeping which made such a huge difference to me as well as providing me with the essential emotional support I so needed at the time."

"I came to Karen at my lowest point. I tried two counsellors, but neither got back in contact with me. Then I found Karen's profile and I was so relieved. I couldn’t see a way out of my current situation and in all honesty, I didn’t have the energy to do so by myself. From the first session, it is evident that she truly cares, and applies the perfect balance between getting to the route of the problem, but also providing actionable tasks to work on in-between sessions. We looked at my goals for the future, and set homework for myself to improve my self care strategies. I now understand why patterns were repeating in my life, I have come to terms with my past and most importantly have the tools to manage these feelings and situations much better in the future. I will always be grateful to Karen and would recommend her to anyone who is thinking about taking their first step. She honestly goes out of her way to support you 100%"

"I dont think I would be where I am today without your support. Counselling has helped me put things into perspective. I was able to reduce my medication and start taking control of my life again with your support"

""Karen is a fantastic counsellor. I attended sessions to support me with my grieving process after losing a loved one to Covid. Karen listened, helped me to accept my loss and supported me massively through my grief. Additionally, her memory is exceptional and she always remembered everything I spoke about, even when I started to have fortnightly and then monthly sessions - this made my sessions even more personal and meaningful. She encouraged me to focus on myself before trying to help others (you can't pour from an empty cup) and supported me with other situations that occurred in my personal life. I looked forward to every session and I know that I have greatly benefitted from her time, work and support. I would recommend her to anyone! Thank you for everything Karen x"

“I highly recommend Karen as a Counsellor. I reached a point when I felt I couldn’t cope any more with what was going on in my life, and I needed help. I felt comfortable talking to Karen and she made me feel at ease. She listened and supported me and I never felt that I was taking up too much of her time. Karen taught me how to cope, and I am now in a much better place.

I can’t thank Karen enough for the help and support she gave me”.

"I came to Karen struggling to understand the impact the domestic abuse that had taken place a few years ago had had on me. I knew there were things bubbling below the surface that were weaving their way into how I formed relationships and the way I have behaved since then, but I didn’t know what they were or how to deal with them. The hours I’ve spent working with Karen have been the most valuable of my life. Not only did we form a trusting, patient relationship, but she helped me slowly understand what had happened to me. After three months of work I now feel equipped to do things differently. It’s been the most liberating and empowering experience and I’ve learnt things that will stay with me forever. Thank you Karen!"

"My experience with Karen was excellent – over just 6 sessions we got to the core of my issues and worked through them. I have always been an anxious person and as a consequence I didnt sleep properly and was a chronic worrier. It was very easy to talk to Karen and she has helped me to understand the causes of my anxiety and build some good coping mechanisms to manage my worries and negative thinking. I now sleep very well at night and I couldn’t recommend Karen more highly."
